Winners, which bills itself as Canada’s largest, off-price retailer, has set next Thursday (Aug. 14) as its grand opening day in the mall.
“With the grand opening of the Truro location, Winners is meeting consumer demand for quality, brand name merchandise,” said spokeswoman Sarah Smithers, in a news release issued from the company’s head office in Mississauga, Ont. “Our newest store will offer shoppers the designer names they know and trust at prices well below department and specialty stores,” she said.
The grand opening is planned for 7:45 a.m.
The new store, located in a portion of the mall formerly occupied by Zellers, provides more than 22,000 sq. ft. of designer and brand name merchandise at up to 60 per cent less than department and specialty store prices, everyday, Smithers said.
Inventory includes fashions for the entire family as well as accessories, home accents and giftware.
Since opening its first store more than 30 years ago, the Winners had grown to more than 300 locations nationwide.
To mark the grand opening of the Truro store, Winners will be presenting a $5,000 donation to The Sunshine Foundation.
